Quick verdict: A canvas carrier is more convenient for carrying split wood a short distance; a plastic tub contains bark and debris better in your vehicle.
Good outdoor gear should solve problems on trips you actually take. Compare the useful benefits and the limits before choosing an upgrade.
Where the first option excels
A flexible carrier bundles logs and is often compact when empty, but offers little protection against rain or wet bark.
Why the alternative may be better
A rigid tub helps separate wood debris from luggage and is easy to rinse; bulky sides take cargo space even after unloading.
Checks before ordering
Check handles, load limits, clearance from embers and whether local firewood transport rules prohibit moving wood.
Check the current manufacturer’s specifications, warranty, suitability for your gear, practical user reports and local availability. The cheapest option is not automatically the worst, and higher prices require a real reason.
Drawbacks and safety
Use only locally sourced or approved firewood to prevent spread of invasive pests, and keep fuel safely away from tents.
Who should buy and who should skip?
Choose the option that removes a repeated inconvenience. Skip unnecessary extras if they add cost or packing weight without improving your actual experience.
Final winner
Pick a carrier for frequent short hauling and a lidded tub for clean vehicle transport.
